Accommodation South Luangwa
There is a choice of 3 types of accommodation in South Luangwa when on photographic safari. The accommodation we use in this photo package is excellent for keen photographers and are all situated in South Luangwa National Park. I will be personally guiding at Track and Trail River Camp and at Zikomo Camp while the structure at Kaingo Camp will work slightly differently.
Track and Trail Camp is a privately owned lodge situated on the picturesque banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. I am one of the owners at this camp specializing in photographic safaris in various areas throughout South Luangwa. The camp affords all the necessities and comforts one would require, situated in an untouched wilderness. It is only 5 minutes from the main entrance of the South Luangwa National Park and has a 3 star rating. Accommodation and facilities are scattered around the banks of the river with the more secluded luxury tents surrounded by bushes built on elevated platforms. The camp is unfenced so wild animals can roam freely and is known for its excellent leopard photography.
Local traditions of hospitality are combined with modern comforts and help create the natural- design architecture. One can look forward to river views, an open- air gym, spa, a restaurant offering international dishes and a ‘Lime tree’ bar. Accommodation is provided with standard facilities including coffee and tea making facilities, a fan and electricity (English three- pin plug). There is also a massage area for in-between safaris. The camp is open year round and photographic safaris can be booked from April until January.

Zikomo Camp is situated on the sweeping bend of the Luangwa River and on the border of the undeveloped Nsefu sector of the South Luangwa National Park; one of the most beautiful unspoilt wilderness areas in Zambia. The camp is simple but comfortable and features ensuite bathrooms. The area is so remote that on a 4 hour game drive one may only see 1 or 2 other game vehicles. Most sightings will be exclusively yours and the endangered African Wild Dog is often seen in the salt pan area. The pan holds permanent water and is home to many crowned cranes and other aquatic birds. The Nsefu area is famous for its population of crested cranes and hot springs. The landscape in this area is extremely diverse and features open woodlands, plains, ebony, groves and numerous lagoons each with their own habitat.

Owned by Shenton Safaris, Kaingo Camp and Mwamba Camp are a family- run company specializing in photographic safaris. The camps feature a number of unique photographic hides guaranteed to get you up- close and personal with the wildlife while in the protection of the hides. A number of professional photographers have used this hide as well as documentary filmmakers. The following exclusive photographic hides are used:
The camp is situated on the banks of the Luangwa River which means that your room looks directly onto the river from the private deck. Each room features its own ensuite bathroom. There is no electricity in the rooms but there is a communal charging station which can be used to power up your batteries each day. Power to the rooms is solar- based and one can expect fantastic food at Kaingo.
